How to Replace an audi keys replacement cost G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Land-Rover.pngIn this video Charles the humble mechanic demonstrates how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. The sensor is located near the transmission's edge just above the flywheel gear. It sends a signal to the ECU via a grey wire (T55/49) which is then sent to the tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The sensor is located at the edge of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends signals to ECU pin T55/49 through an uncolored wire. The ECU utilizes this information to control the amount of fuel and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer within the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to link the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu must be aware when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is located so that it can trigger spark and injectors accordingly.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display an error code P00160. This means that the Crank Shaft is not in sync with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of an issue with the chain or a jumpy chain link in the upper timing chain. However the code will not appear on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

It can be a bit difficult to test as there are different pins on the connector, and each has its own functions. The best method for doing this is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read about 1000 ohms if the sensor is operating at its maximum. If you're experiencing issues with this component, look for signs of oil or coolant in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, as i was accelerating off the highway paytoll at full speed I noticed a massive reduction in power. It was like the engine was running out of gas. Or, my injectors were not firing. Today, i pulled out the spark plugs, three were drenched in gazoline, the 4th one was dry. I placed a tissue over each injector hole, and when i start the engine without sparks, the 3 with gazoline jump out. The 4th one stays closed. I checked the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55,30/55 and 48/55 I get zero ohm. Therefore, i think the issue is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset the PID with no success. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it works fine when the G28 connected. However, the intermittent misfire problem still occurs at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even when it is unplugged, shows a temperature of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar when the actual pressure is 0.

I'm not certain what to do, as i believe that i've ruled out everything else. But i'm worried that I might have missed something. If anyone has any ideas please share them! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 receives a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is identical to the G4 sender, and both operate on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily find an extra in a wrecking shop or a parts store. It is simple to test them - just switch your DMM into resistance mode and determine the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump on the connector's edge facing upwards). They should be infinite ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU of our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY) engines must know the position and speed of the crankshaft to determine timing of the fuel injector, etc. To do this, it utilizes a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If you are experiencing issues with either of these sensors, the diagnostic scanner will show the codes that could trigger an engine shut down.

Some of the signs of a failed G28 sensor are an inaccurate rev counter for the gearbox the gears are shifting faster than normal and/or misfiring when you are in gear. If you have any of these issues it is likely your sensor is failing and requires replacement audi keys. They're cheap and easy to find, especially if they're an Bosch sensor like ours. You can also choose the GM version of this component is also a great option.

5. Tachometer

A faulty engine speed sensor could be the cause of numerous issues in your car. It is an important part of the transmission of your audi q7 Key, as it transmits information to the ECU about how fast or slowly the engine of the car is spinning. This sensor can cause the transmission to fail and other car components to be affected.

The G5 engine speed sensor is situated on the edge of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear and sends a signal directly to the ECU at pin T55/49 through an uncolored wire. The ECU then processes this signal to control the flow of fuel, timig and boost as well as transmitting it to the G5 tachometer inside the instrument cluster. You can check for sensor failure by examining the continuity of the sensor to the tachometer. You can also verify continuity between pin T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79]), and between pin T6a/1 and pin T26a/12. You should observe around 1000 ohms of resistance between those points. This is a standard part that is found across the audi replacement key cost uk 80, 100, 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC through the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU so good parts could be found in wrecking yards.suzuki-logo.jpg
